Third Molar Extractions

As a general rule, we try to have third molars (also known as "wisdom teeth") taken out before our patients turn 22-25 years of age.  Does this mean you cant have your wisdom teeth extracted if you are over that age? Of course not!  We place that age "limit" on wisdom tooth extractions because healing is much quicker in younger folk and because wisdom teeth roots are not yet fully developed at that time, making them easier to take out.  Currently, Dr. Greene - a general dentist who provides oral surgery services, specifically wisdom tooth removal, comes into our practice for these extractions.  As a norm, patients are sedated for this procedure.
